maybe i write the same thing every year. maybe i don’t, it’s hard to say. but this is the 5th’ish year i’ve documented my friends’ family at home in atlanta, and i know i remain unable to express my love and admiration for them.
perhaps it’s because i’ve known kaleen for what seems twelve lifetimes. she is an incredible, unwavering artist, mother, human … and being that she already takes her own beautifully honest photographs of her family, it’s exciting when i’m asked to document them from my personal point of view too. she actually wrote a compelling blog post about why photographers should be in their family photos sometimes. you can read it here.
